Studio Bloom Director's Diary - Entry One

Have you seen this amazing concept art?
Of course you have. That piece of art is the character "Teppela Shinji" from the current Studio Bloom project. Said project is nowhere near ready to see the light of day, but I really want to share some details about the development.

As the amazing caption says, the idea for the series was born on April 14th. I originally just asked my pal Ryan to give me an idea for a short story, but it evolved far beyond that. Almost a full two months later, the initial concept has changed drastically (it's no longer about Space Maids). When development started on the project, it was just a manga about a girl piloting a Mech the size of a planet (in fact it was planet)! But don't steal the "Planetary Mech" idea, because we might use that for a future project, okay? Okay. We've since moved on from Mechs, and I can confirm, it's now in the "Magical Girl" genre. That's not really a spoiler, since somehow Kill La Kill is in the genre as well.

But, I digress. Development has been rough. My personal life has a way of interrupting things, you know? But, I've written ceaselessly. Every day the series grows *that* much more, and it continues to... Bloom, if you will. I, and my good friends, are working tirelessly to bring our common dream alive, and we look forward to telling you all about it in the near future.

I'm sorry that's all I can say. Until next time! Ciao, Bloom-fans!

Gen Urobuchi Retiring - What The Hell?

Apparently both the gaming and anime industries are plagued by sensitives willies. First Totalbuiscut  claiming his life is "ruined" by negative feedback, and now acclaimed author Gen Urobuchi ditching the anime scene after some online hecklers. The Tweet below is, allegedly, what sent good ol' Gen over the edge.
You what, mate? That's the straw that broke the Camel's back? Excuse my generalization, but everyone on the internet claims that Puella Magi Madoka Magica is the God King of Space, so excuse me for thinking that his critics are few and far between.

I guess what I'm trying to say here is that Gen may have taken things a little too far out of proportion. For fuck's sake, there were allegedly sounds of crying in his hotel room that night. Though I'm not sure how anyone heard them through the pile of gold bars he no doubt had around his bed.

But, hey. If he can't take the heat, maybe he should get out of the kitchen. Though I was kind of looking forward to Aldnoah.Zero. Let's hope his rage quit doesn't affect that, nor any other Madoka projects, anytime soon.
